Mercedes-AMG has unveiled the GT SUV, its first electric SUV developed entirely in-house. Built on the dedicated AMG.EA architecture, the 5.08-meter vehicle weighs more than 2.6 tonnes and will eventually be offered in versions ranging from a 544 hp dual-motor model to a 1,169 hp flagship.
- GT 53 SUV: two electric motors producing 544 hp. It is the first version scheduled to reach customers and will be available to order from October 20, 2026.
- GT 55 SUV: scheduled to launch in spring 2027; Mercedes-AMG has not detailed its power output in the announcement.
- GT 63 SUV: three axial-flux motors delivering up to 860 kW, or 1,169 hp, and up to 2,000 Nm of torque. It is also scheduled for spring 2027.
The GT SUV will use either a 106 kWh or 128 kWh battery pack. Mercedes-AMG says dielectric oil cooling surrounds every battery cell, helping the system maintain 721 hp of continuous output in track conditions. Its 800V electrical system supports DC charging at up to 710 kW; under ideal conditions, the 128 kWh pack can charge from 10% to 80% in 12 minutes and add 454 km of range in 10 minutes.
Standard chassis hardware includes rear-wheel steering with up to 6 degrees of steering angle, plus AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL+ adaptive suspension with active roll stabilization. Those systems are intended to manage the SUV’s considerable mass in corners.
Mercedes-AMG is placing the GT SUV in the high-performance electric SUV segment alongside several established rivals:
- Porsche Macan Turbo Electric
- Lotus Eletre R
- BMW iX M60
The GT 53 SUV will start at €113,050. Mercedes-AMG has not detailed market-by-market availability or pricing beyond the announced order date and launch schedule, while the higher-output GT 55 and GT 63 remain set for spring 2027.
