Here we are with the Vernee Thor for an unboxing, after covering it for a few times and also covering the young and exciting new phone maker from China, Vernee. They made the news with their 6 GB RAM phone, Apollo and then with the Thor, perceived as sort of an “Uber Phone”, since it comes with Uber preinstalled and a discount code. The phone is priced at $119 on Gearbest.com.

Its box is pretty typical, a rectangular and black packaging and inside we find the charger, USB cable and manual. There aren’t any headphones here. The phone itself is quite good looking, with a 2.5D glass facade and also a nice soft touch back. It feels a bit like a OnePlus X met with a Nexus 4 and had a baby. This handset brings a 5 inch HD display, an octa core MediaTek CPU and 3 GB of RAM.

Vernee Thor runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow and comes with a 13 megapixel back camera, a front 5 MP shooter and a 2800 mAh battery. It also brings 16 GB of storage and a fingerprint scanner at the back. Weighing 140 grams, Thor is supposed to have a titanium alloy skeleton, for extra resilience. Vernee also published the device’s source code, trying to get devs to make a custom ROM for it.

It’ll come in a few months. In the meantime we’re prepping the review for Thor and you can find its best price here.
