Orange is using AMD Ryzen PRO processors in approximately 55,000 laptops, a major enterprise deployment that underscores AMD’s position in managed corporate PC fleets. The telecom operator cited performance, battery life and long-term system administration among the priorities behind its platform choice.
For a fleet of this size, the processor’s upfront cost is only part of the equation. Orange also weighed the ability to manage and secure systems at scale, along with hardware-platform stability and support over a longer deployment cycle.
In France, the device fleet is managed by Orange’s DISU organization, which is responsible for laptops, phones and associated IT services. Thomas Vergouwen of Orange DISU said that performance extends beyond processing power to include battery endurance.
AMD’s Ryzen PRO platform adds enterprise-oriented capabilities beyond standard Ryzen branding, including DASH-based management support, AMD Memory Guard and stability and support policies intended for large deployments.
AMD also references Ryzen AI PRO, which adds an NPU for local AI workloads. However, Orange’s fleet is described only as Ryzen PRO systems, and there is no confirmation that all 55,000 laptops use Ryzen AI PRO hardware.
Orange and AMD have not identified the specific laptop or processor models in the rollout, nor the competing systems assessed during the selection process. That leaves the deployment as evidence of Ryzen PRO’s enterprise scale rather than a direct comparison with rival PC platforms.
