HMD and Xplora are reportedly preparing the Xplora Go Pad, a compact Android tablet designed for children where parental oversight, web monitoring and content filtering appear to be the central product features. The device has surfaced in an unconfirmed leak shared by @smashx_60.
The leaked specifications list an 8.7-inch IPS LCD display, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 685 processor and 4G cellular connectivity. Charging is said to top out at 18W. Battery capacity, RAM and storage configurations, display resolution and refresh rate have not been disclosed.
Rather than positioning the tablet for high-end gaming, the reported hardware suggests a device intended for educational apps, web access, video playback and communication. Its claimed IP65 dust and water resistance, along with drop resistance from heights of up to 100 cm, would also suit a device expected to be handled by younger users.
According to the leak, the Go Pad would include built-in parental controls, web-activity monitoring and detection, harmful-content blocking, AI-based educational functions and 4G support rather than Wi-Fi-only connectivity. Details on how these tools operate, including which content categories are filtered and whether features require a subscription, remain unclear.
The approach would extend HMD and Xplora's existing focus on connected devices for children. HMD's Fuse smartphone uses HarmBlock AI to block nudity and certain content, while allowing parents to manage apps, contacts and location. The Go Pad could bring a similar managed experience to a larger-screen Android device.
Child-focused modes and parental-control suites are already common on Android tablets from companies including Samsung and HONOR. If the leak is accurate, Xplora's distinction may be in making those safeguards the core of the tablet rather than an optional software mode.
Neither HMD nor Xplora has announced the Xplora Go Pad. Pricing, release timing, regional availability, battery capacity and memory options are still unknown, leaving the scope of its parental-control platform as the key detail to watch should the tablet become official.
