Insta360 has introduced the Luna Pro, a compact camera with a mechanical three-axis gimbal, a 1-inch sensor and 8K Dolby Vision recording. The standard package is priced at $599.99, with global availability scheduled to begin on September 10 in Cosmic Black and Stellar White.
The camera uses a Leica Summicron lens with a 20mm-equivalent focal length and an f/1.8 aperture. Insta360 says it supports 2x lossless zoom and up to 4x zoom in HighRes mode.
Its supported recording modes include:
- 8K Dolby Vision video at up to 30 fps
- 4K video at up to 120 fps
- Full HD slow-motion video at up to 240 fps
A 4nm chipset and a dedicated image processor handle imaging duties. The Luna Pro also offers 10-bit I-Log capture, ACES support and built-in timecode for multi-camera synchronization. Vertical 4K recording is included as well.
A detachable 2-inch OLED touchscreen can serve as a wireless monitor and remote control. Insta360 rates the Luna Pro for up to four hours of battery life, and it includes 47GB of internal storage.
The Luna Pro was first launched in China on August 20 and extends Insta360’s push beyond its established 360-degree and action-camera lines. Compared with the Luna Ultra, the Pro drops the higher-end model’s second telephoto camera while retaining the larger main sensor and much of its video feature set.
