Samsung’s Galaxy S27+ may drop Ultra-Wideband connectivity, according to reported entries in China’s MIIT certification database. If accurate, the change would remove the precise-location capabilities that UWB enables for compatible accessories, including the Samsung Galaxy SmartTag 3.
The records reportedly reference four handsets in the upcoming Galaxy S27 family, but list UWB support only for the Pro and Ultra variants:
- Samsung Galaxy S27 — no UWB support listed
- Samsung Galaxy S27+ — no UWB support listed
- Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro — UWB support listed
- Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra — UWB support listed
The standard Galaxy S27 missing UWB would not be a departure from earlier base models. The S27+ omission would be more notable, however, as Plus models have included the technology since the Galaxy S21 generation.
UWB is designed for highly accurate short-range positioning between supported devices and accessories. Without it, the Galaxy S27+ would reportedly rely on Bluetooth 6.0 for positioning, which offers lower precision than UWB for compatible tracking functions.
The split could point to a more distinct premium tier for the Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra, while the S27+ remains a larger-screen alternative below them. Samsung has not confirmed the lineup or its connectivity specifications, and certification records can be incomplete or change before release. The Galaxy S27 series is currently expected to arrive in early 2027.
