The REDMAGIC 12 Pro has emerged from a JerryRigEverything teardown with an unusually elaborate active-cooling design: two liquid loops carrying fluorinated fluid, a 20 mW piezoelectric micropump, a vapor chamber and an internal fan rated at up to 25,500 RPM. The disassembly confirms that the phone’s liquid-cooling branding refers to a circulating-fluid system rather than a purely passive heat-spreading arrangement.
I have never seen internal components this spectacular in a smartphone.
Zack Nelson, JerryRigEverything
REDMAGIC calls the assembly AquaCore Cooling 3.0. The two fluid paths use pipes of differing thicknesses, altering the fluid’s speed across different parts of the thermal system. The coolant is visibly moving through the channels in the teardown, while the pump is designed to operate on just 20 mW of power.
The fluid is said to withstand temperatures from about -60°C to 108°C. Its route is thermally linked to the vapor chamber and to a metal air channel used to expel heat from the chassis. The fan produces enough airflow to extinguish a lighter flame in Nelson’s demonstration.
The handset is rated IP68 and IP69, although the fan channel itself carries an IPX8 rating. Internal protective meshes are present, but the separate rating leaves long-term dust resistance around the active-cooling path as an open question.
Other findings from the teardown

- Gorilla Glass 7i scratched at level 6 on the Mohs scale, with deeper marks at level 7.
- The display did not show permanent flame damage after roughly 20 seconds of exposure.
- The phone passed the bend test without structural failure.
- An 8,400 mAh battery sits below the cooling hardware, and active cooling can operate during fast charging.
- The stacked two-level motherboard uses copper and thermal paste to transfer heat toward the vapor chamber and active-cooling system.
- A 16 MP under-display selfie camera was difficult to spot even under a microscope.
- The rear camera system includes two 50 MP cameras, with optical image stabilization on the main camera.
- USB-C supports 4K video output.
REDMAGIC had already made cooling a central part of its gaming-phone approach with the REDMAGIC 11 Pro, but the 12 Pro adds a more complex liquid circulation system to the established vapor-chamber-and-fan formula. The remaining question is how that multi-part thermal architecture will hold up after extended exposure to dust, heat and regular charging cycles.
