Amazon has introduced the Kids Tablet 8 and Kids Tablet 11, shifting its children’s tablets from the previous Fire ecosystem to Android. The change brings Google Play access to the devices, while requiring parents to approve app and game installations through the Amazon Parent Dashboard.
Both tablets ship with a protective case, a one-year Amazon Kids+ subscription and the two-year worry-free guarantee offered with Amazon’s kids lineup. Parent Dashboard controls include screen-time limits, bedtime schedules, content filters and permitted-app settings. Amazon’s Learn First feature can hold back games until a child completes specified educational goals.
The smaller Kids Tablet 8 has an 8.7-inch display, 4GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of storage. Amazon positions it for younger children and travel, with battery life rated at up to 14 hours. The Kids Tablet 11 raises the display size to 11 inches, adds 8GB of RAM and stylus support, and is intended for older children.
