One XDA Developers user had the bright idea of creating an Android app that opens your garage door, simply by using the handset. You can see the app in action at the end of the article and know that this is a simple piece of software that makes an Android phone a virtual garage door remote.

The software has requirements, that allow it not to work unless the user is a least within a block away from home and there’s pin code protection to keep things safe. This will stop the garage door form being opened by mistake, through this app. For now, the application is known as “OpenSezMe” and it’s very useful if you jog and want to enter the house through a garage and you’re too lazy to press the switch.

Imagine using this type of remote for everything in the house: computer, stereo, lighting system, audio systems and whatnot.
