Garmin has announced the Edge 1060, a premium cycling computer that lets riders check ride metrics, search for destinations and adjust navigation using “Okay, Garmin” voice commands. The unit adds a microphone and speaker, aiming to reduce touchscreen interaction while riding.
Voice requests can include reporting a pothole, finding the nearest café, checking heart rate, changing the data screen or selecting a route. With a phone connected, the Edge 1060 can send voice messages through Garmin Messenger and play incoming messages through its speaker. The speaker also doubles as a digital bike bell, while physical buttons remain available for use in rain, cold weather or with gloves.
Routing and connected ride tools

The Edge 1060 can offer several routes to the same destination based on travel time, elevation gain and bike type. Its Free Flow Routing feature is designed to identify routes with fewer stops, intersections and slowdowns. Before setting off, riders can see distance, estimated duration, traffic information and hazards reported by other users, including potholes, road closures, obstacles and aggressive animals.
Garmin’s GroupRide features add rider locations, messaging, incident alerts and group challenges. Training tools include real-time stamina, Power Guide, Garmin Cycling Coach and TrainingPeaks plan synchronization. The device can also draw on recovery data collected by a compatible Garmin smartwatch or the CIRQA band.

Hardware specifications include a 3.5-inch touchscreen with an 800 × 480-pixel resolution. Garmin rates the Edge 1060 for up to 20 hours of demanding use or up to 60 hours in battery-saver mode, matching the claimed endurance of the previous generation.
The new model also supports USB-C reverse charging for accessories such as a Varia light, a phone or another device, although Garmin says this function is not intended for use while riding. The Edge 1060 retains the core display, GPS and training-focused approach of the earlier Edge 1050, with voice operation and updated navigation as the major additions.

Garmin says the Edge 1060 will be available to order from October 23 through select Garmin stores in Europe for €799.99. Voice control will work only in supported languages; Garmin has not yet detailed the full language list or availability beyond the announced European rollout.
