The container ship GFS Pride has sunk in the Strait of Hormuz after an explosion and subsequent fire, with all 21 crew members evacuated safely, according to Singapore maritime authorities.
The reported cause remains disputed. Iranian authorities said the vessel struck a naval mine while passing through a dangerous area, while Singapore authorities said the ship was hit by an unidentified projectile.
A TikTok video claimed that the GFS Pride had departed logistics hubs in Dubai carrying iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max devices, along with perfumes and other luxury goods. The claim also put the cargo at more than 2,500 containers.
There is no independently verified public cargo manifest confirming that either iPhone model was aboard, the number of phones involved, or the wider contents of the shipment. Any effect on international supplies of premium electronics therefore remains unclear.
