Google’s September Android feature package introduces five additions that will roll out gradually to Pixel phones. The most notable links Gemini with Google Find Hub, allowing users to tell Gemini where they have stored an item, such as a passport or spare key, optionally add a photo, and ask for that location later.
The item-recall feature stores the information in Find Hub and is set to be available on Android 16 and later where both Gemini and Find Hub are offered.
Android 17 is also getting Motion Assist, a tool designed to reduce motion sickness while using a phone in a moving vehicle. It displays animated bubbles that respond to the vehicle’s movement, can activate automatically, and lets users adjust the elements’ shape, color, and transparency.
Gemini Live is gaining Guided Vision, which uses the phone camera to help with tasks such as reading small text, viewing a menu in dim lighting, or identifying objects. Gemini can provide voice guidance when the camera needs to be repositioned.
Google Messages rounds out the update with two collaboration and personalization changes. Users will be able to share and edit Google Keep notes or lists directly in a conversation, while individual chats can receive custom backgrounds and color themes. A photo can be used as a wallpaper, with the app adapting chat-bubble colors to match it.
Google has confirmed a phased Pixel rollout, while broader availability across Android devices has not yet been detailed.
