HONOR has teased an AI-powered privacy feature for MagicOS 11 that is designed to detect when another person is looking at a user’s display. The system will identify the device owner and issue reminders and emoji-based alerts when it detects a potential over-the-shoulder glance.
The feature, described as an AI Privacy Feature, is expected to reach multiple HONOR devices, beginning with the upcoming Magic9 series. MagicOS 11 is due in the second half of September, according to the teaser.
Users will reportedly be able to enable the option through Settings, then Privacy and Screen Protection after updating to MagicOS 11. One of the demonstrated animations shows a surprised dog as the display turns gray after the system detects another viewer.
HONOR had already introduced an anti-peeping capability in MagicOS 10, but the new feature appears to focus on AI-based viewer recognition and warnings rather than changing the screen’s physical viewing characteristics. That distinguishes it from hardware-based privacy display approaches such as Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra implementation, while placing it closer to software-led privacy tools seen on Huawei Pura devices.
HONOR has not yet detailed the full list of compatible devices or explained how the AI detection will perform in different lighting conditions and viewing angles. Those details should emerge closer to the MagicOS 11 and Magic9 series launch.
