Huawei MatePad Air Z Series Debuts in China With 12-Inch 144Hz Displays and 10,100mAh Batteries

Huawei has unveiled the MatePad Air Z tablet range in China, led by a 12-inch 2.8K display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a 10,100mAh battery. The lineup consists of the MatePad Air Z Standard and the MatePad Air Z Enjoy Edition, with PaperMatte display configurations available on selected models.

Both tablets have an 88% screen-to-body ratio, six stereo speakers, a 50MP rear camera and an 8MP front-facing camera. The PaperMatte option is designed to cut reflections when reading or working under bright lighting. They run HarmonyOS 7, which Huawei says includes AI features for learning and productivity.

The MatePad Air Z Standard uses a Kirin T93 SD23 processor, while certain PaperMatte configurations use the Kirin T93S23. Huawei offers a magnetic keyboard for the Standard version, along with a Smart Leather Case.

• Color options: Coral Orange, Island Blue, Space Gray, Nebula Pink and Moonlight Silver.

The two versions can also be distinguished by their rear-camera styling. The Standard model places its camera and LED flash in an elongated housing, while the Enjoy Edition uses an oval camera module.

China pricing

Pre-orders are open in China, but Huawei has not announced a retail release date or international availability. The company lists local-video playback endurance at 3.16 hours, a figure that appears unusually low for a 10,100mAh battery and requires clarification. More details may emerge alongside the expected Mate 90 smartphone series announcement next week.
