Huawei may use a new Kirin 9025 processor in the rumored Pura 90 Plus, replacing earlier expectations of a Kirin 9020 5G chip. The claim comes from Weibo tipster SuperDimensional, but neither the chipset nor the phone has been confirmed by Huawei.
The Kirin 9025 is said to be an upgraded version of the Kirin 9020. Its architecture remains unknown, although the report points to a possible CPU performance increase over the earlier chip.
Huawei recently introduced the nine-core Kirin 9050 Pro in the Mate 90 Pro Max. Its Prime core is clocked at 3.10GHz, and preliminary results have placed its performance in the range of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
The Pura 90 Plus has been rumored as a more affordable addition to the Pura 90 lineup, with a possible launch late this month. International availability is still unclear, while the Kirin 9025's specifications will be the key detail to watch if the device is announced.
