Apple has added French, Spanish and Portuguese support to Siri AI in the first iOS 27.2 developer beta, alongside Japanese and Korean. The languages had previously been announced for October, and their arrival in the software signals that Apple is continuing its technical rollout of the upgraded assistant.
The change does not mean Siri AI is ready for iPhone users in the European Union. Apple continues to say that the service is initially unavailable in the EU on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS, citing requirements under the Digital Markets Act. The company says it is working on a path to introduce the feature in the region, but has not provided a launch date.
French, Spanish and Portuguese would be important parts of any eventual EU expansion, but the new language support is not proof that Apple’s regulatory issues have been resolved. Those languages also serve markets outside the EU, including Canada, Switzerland and countries across Latin America.
Siri AI is not entirely absent from Europe: Apple already allows access through macOS 27 and visionOS 27. The restriction currently applies to its iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch platforms, leaving the regulatory outcome—not the language infrastructure—as the key remaining obstacle to a broader EU mobile rollout.
