Nokia has just made available a new firmware build for the now old 5800 XpressMusic models, bringing a couple of cool features to the table. We remind you that this device inaugurated the S60 5th Edition platform and this happened back in 2008, so an update is always welcome.

The firmware brings kinetic scrolling to the music phone and we also learn that the v40 release upgrades the 5800’s home screen, putting it on par with the one on the 5530 model. Also the handset will now switch to QWERTY mode input automatically when the device is in landscape mode.

If you’re messing with the Nokia Software Updater on your PC, you might want to test the Windows 7 compatibility before upgrading. Keep in mind that not all 5800 units are getting the upgrade right now, so be patient and wait for your turn.
