Oppo is reportedly testing an unusually wide flagship smartphone built around a 6.35-inch display with a 16:9 aspect ratio. The prototype is said to use a 2560 x 1440 resolution panel, a format that would differ sharply from the taller screens now common on high-end phones.
Information shared on Weibo also points to an 8T LTPO panel and an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor positioned beneath the display. Although the resolution is typically associated with a 2K-class screen, the reported pixel density would be closer to that of a conventional 1.5K panel because of the display’s larger, wider dimensions.
The wider panel is reportedly expected to provide a viewing area comparable to that of a conventional smartphone with a 6.8- to 7-inch screen. Earlier details associated with the device have pointed to a flagship MediaTek Dimensity chipset and a camera system with two 200MP sensors, one of which may be paired with a periscope telephoto lens.
There is no confirmed product name. Rumors have suggested Oppo Reno X, while the flagship-grade hardware has also fueled speculation that it could join the Find X10 line as an Oppo Find X10 Pro Mini. Oppo has not confirmed the prototype, its final specification, or a launch timeframe.
