Panasonic announced this week a brand new smartphone, the 6 inch P61 model, that features dual SIM cards and runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat. You can see the handset below and it appears to be using a customized UI, or at least some of its elements are.

Priced at around $247, this product is a WCDMA/GSM unit with a quad core MediaTek processor inside, clocked at 1.3 GHz. We also get an IPS LCD screen with a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution and a 2 megapixel front camera, as well as an 8 megapixel back shooter. There’s WiFi on board, Bluetooth 4.0, 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage, while the battery is a 2800 mAh unit.

The new model will be available in white or pearl black and it’s not yet clear when it will be launched, but the Indian market is clearly targeted. From what I can see in the image above, we’re getting a dual LED flash for the camera, so that’s cool, but I can’t guarantee the case is made of metal, although it looks that way. It may be plastic made to resemble metal, a big trend nowadays.
