Samsung Galaxy S has just managed to surpass the iPhone, becoming Japan’s best selling handset. This record is only applied to a one week time frame, so don’t get too excited. Still, the performance is here to stay and we guess the device will increase its stats, once the Froyo update goes live.

The 32GB iPhone has been on the top spot for 18 weeks now, since its June debut, but this has been the Galaxy S’ first week of availability of the Japanese market, quite an achievement for any product out there. However, we expect the second week to curb everyone’s enthusiasm and replace the iPhone on top spot.

Will the Froyo launch increase Galaxy S’ sales again? What do you think?
