Samsung is rumored to be considering a major rebrand of its Galaxy phone software, potentially replacing the One UI name with Galaxy OS when the Galaxy S28 series arrives in 2028. Tipster phonefuturist says the effort is being discussed internally under the One UI 10 and Galaxy OS names, with AI agents expected to form a core part of the proposed platform. Samsung has not confirmed the project, and the Galaxy OS name alone does not indicate that the company plans to move away from Android.

The reported direction would involve closer work with Google and deeper system-level AI integration. The aim appears to be handling tasks that span multiple apps with fewer manual steps, rather than treating AI as a separate feature layer.

Samsung already says Gemini can work with several Galaxy apps, including:

  • Calendar
  • Samsung Notes
  • Reminder
  • Clock

The rumor also raises the prospect of AI services from external partners, some of which could carry additional charges. Samsung says its basic Galaxy AI features are free, while future versions may add enhanced features or new services that cost extra. Third-party AI tools can be governed by separate terms, and there is no indication yet which services, if any, would require subscriptions or whether currently free tools would become paid.

A 2028 debut would land roughly a decade after One UI was introduced, giving Samsung a potential milestone for a new software identity. For now, both the Galaxy OS branding and the scope of any AI overhaul remain unconfirmed, as do the timing and feature set for the Galaxy S28 series.
