According to several media reports from Japan, we get to know the fact that Sharp started the developing process of 4K LCD display panels designed for smartphones. One of the source said that the main reason why Sharp is developing such a panel is the big demand for displays with high-resolution and high-pixel density.

With this opportunity, they let us know that 4K panels will be mass-produced starting in 2016, with sizes ranging from 5 to 6 inches. However, the exactly screen resolution of these panels is for the moment unknown, with the possibility that they could be 3.840 x 2.160 pixels or 4.096 x 2.160 pixels.

Beside this kind of panels, Sharp will also plans to improve the quality of LTPS LCD screens by using a method capable of polycrystalline silicon on a glass substrate attached. In this way, the result will be a panel with an extreme clarity and vibrant colors. As we found out a while ago, Sharp will also launch a 600 ppi display that will show up on the market starting April 1, 2015.
