Volkswagen’s new ID. Tiguan will take the place of both the ID.4 and ID.5, combining the familiar Tiguan name with an electric MEB+ platform. The SUV will be offered with rear- or all-wheel drive, up to 299 PS, and a claimed WLTP range of up to 600 km. European pricing starts at €42,695.
The new model also marks a rethink of Volkswagen’s early ID-era cabin approach. Touch-sensitive steering-wheel controls have been replaced by physical buttons, climate functions have their own control bar, and a controller returns to the center console for volume and track changes. The driver’s door panel now uses four separate window switches.
| Version | Drive | Output | Battery | WLTP range |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ID. Tiguan | Rear-wheel drive | 140 kW / 190 PS | 58 kWh | Up to 450 km |
| ID. Tiguan | Rear-wheel drive | 210 kW / 286 PS | 77 kWh | Up to 600 km |
| ID. Tiguan 4MOTION | All-wheel drive | 220 kW / 299 PS | 77 kWh | Up to 560 km |
The 77 kWh versions can tow up to 2,000 kg, while the 58 kWh model is rated for up to 1,800 kg. Volkswagen has added a 32-liter front trunk. Rear cargo capacity is 534 liters, expanding to about 1,577 liters with the rear seats folded.

Screens and connected features
Despite the return of conventional controls, the ID. Tiguan retains a screen-heavy dashboard. It has a 10-inch Digital Cockpit and a 15-inch central infotainment display, while a 12-inch passenger display is optional. Its privacy mode is designed to keep its content out of the driver’s view while the vehicle is moving, and the passenger can use Bluetooth headphones for audio.
Two magnetically aligned Qi2 wireless charging pads are included, and Digital Key supports unlocking, starting and sharing access through a phone. Vehicle-to-Load, marketed by Volkswagen as PowerSocket, can supply external devices through an adapter connected to the charging port. One-Pedal Driving is standard, while Connected Travel Assist can stop the vehicle at red lights where supported.

Volkswagen plans to open orders in Germany and several other European markets on October 13, with deliveries scheduled to begin in early 2027. The ID. Tiguan’s rollout beyond those markets, including pricing and availability, has not yet been confirmed.
The ID. Tiguan follows Volkswagen’s move toward established model names for its EV lineup, after the ID. Polo and ahead of the future ID. Up. Its launch will test whether familiar branding, more conventional SUV styling and restored physical controls can give Volkswagen’s next electric crossover a stronger position than the ID.4 and ID.5.
