It’s time for a new Xiaomi leak to grace us with pictures and benchmarks and this time it’s not the Xiaomi Mi Note 2, but rather a midranger. Known as Xiaomi Meri, which is just a codename, this model is surely sexy and strangely it doesn’t resemble any other Xiaomi unit.
The leaks have shown the handset having a 5.1 inch screen, an octa core 2.2 GHz processor and 3 GB of RAM. There’s also 64 GB of storage inside, a rear camera with OIS and a 2.5D sleek facade, that includes a physical Home button with fingerprint scanner. The back feels a bit like the iPhone 5S and the Nexus 6P, with the neat black case being very elegant.
This handset runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow and scored only 63k in AnTuTu, which is not very impressive compared to the 150k or even 170k points we’ve seen on higher end phones. Rumors talk about a Rockchip SoC inside, but to me the design is the real revelation here. Once again, it’s not clear if this model will come as the Redmi 4, a Xiaomi Mi 5c or some other model series.
