Beside smartphones and tablets, the Chinese company Xiaomi also sells gadgets like the Mi Band smart activity tracker, a cheap product that is able to monitor the daily activity. Being launched for more than a year, it’s time to see a successor, and this happens today.

Priced with just a few dollars higher than the previous edition that is currently sold for $13, the new smartband called Mi Band 1s keeps the same design language, but arrives in the pack with some updates sensors. Also, on this variant we’ll get a heart rate monitor, a pretty nice introduction if you’re asking me.

Apparently, the info about the heart rate pulse will be used to determine the sleep quality, this one being a very important indication. According to the company, Xiaomi Mi Band 1s is now built from a better polycarbonate that keeps the flexibility we had on the 1st gen smartband.

We’ll get a pedometer, voice calls reminders, and a 45 mAh battery that promises up to 30 day of lifetime in the standby mode. Xiaomi Mi Band 1s will be sold for about $15 – $16, a pretty amazing price for such a powerful little gadget. Down below you can find some other specs of the freshly announced smartband.

  • IP67 water and dust proof certification
  • Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity
  • Li-Po 45 mAh battery
  • iOS and Android compatibility
  • Dimensions: 37 x 13.6 x 9.9 mm / weight – 5.5 grams
