Xiaomi has unveiled a robotic hand aimed at industrial tasks that require precise handling of objects with varying shapes and materials. Its hybrid drive system and artificial-tendon tension control are designed to support complex movements while adjusting gripping force.
- 21 degrees of freedom for complex articulation
- 26 motors operating through a hybrid actuation system
- 1,500 tactile sensing points distributed across the hand
- 1 mm spatial resolution on the fingers and 2 mm resolution on the palm

The tactile array is intended to capture detailed contact information as the hand touches and grips objects, a capability that could be important for automated work involving tools, components and other irregular items.
Xiaomi says its engineers based the project on 1,827 real working procedures across 16 stages of automobile production. Those procedures cover more than 70% of the typical manual operations examined by the company. Xiaomi also digitally recreated industrial tools and parts, simulating different gripping methods to test the mechanism's flexibility and reliability.

The design uses modular tactile components intended to simplify replacement, while its cooling system has been optimized for industrial operation. Xiaomi has not said whether or when the robotic hand will reach commercial availability.
