Apple’s rumored iPhone 18e may receive a major silicon update without changing two of the most visible compromises of the entry-level model. Leaker Digital Chat Station says the handset is expected to use a 6.12-inch LTPS OLED display with a 60Hz refresh rate and a single 48MP rear camera.
The phone is reportedly planned for spring 2027 alongside the iPhone 18 and iPhone Air 2. Apple has not confirmed the device, its launch timing, or any of the reported specifications.
Its most significant rumored change is the A20 processor, which is said to be built on a 2nm manufacturing process. That could improve performance and power efficiency over the A19 used in the iPhone 17e, although there is no information yet on any real-world battery-life gains.
A 24MP front-facing camera has also been mentioned, but that detail appears less certain. MacRumors noted that the claim could reflect confusion with the 18MP Center Stage sensor introduced with the iPhone 17 series.
For context, the iPhone 17e has an A19 chip, 256GB of base storage, a 48MP Fusion camera, and MagSafe charging. If this report proves accurate, the next model’s principal upgrade may be its chipset, while display smoothness and rear-camera versatility remain unchanged. The front camera specification is among the details still awaiting clearer evidence.
