Samsung has begun releasing the stable One UI 9.0 update, based on Android 17, for the Galaxy S26 series. The rollout starts in South Korea and covers the full flagship lineup after several months of beta testing.
- Galaxy S26
- Galaxy S26+
- Galaxy S26 Ultra
The download is around 550MB for participants moving from the beta program, while devices upgrading from an earlier stable build will receive a substantially larger package. Samsung has also included the September 2026 Android security patch.
One UI 9.0 is an iterative update rather than a major visual redesign over One UI 8.5, with changes centered on customization, productivity, privacy, accessibility, and Samsung app enhancements.
- Quick Panel controls can be resized for brightness, volume, and media playback, while panel items can be rearranged.
- Samsung DeX adds easier movement of app windows between desktops and previews in the recent-apps view.
- Samsung Notes gains Tape, which can temporarily conceal parts of a note, along with additional writing-tool styles.
- Game Booster provides shortcut access to settings such as display resolution and screenshot format without leaving a game.
- A blue indicator shows when an app accesses location data, while the system adds additional protection against apps deemed dangerous.
- Text Spotlight can enlarge and highlight text in a separate window. TalkBack receives a unified implementation, and keyboard cursor controls gain more settings.
Later beta builds also introduced AI-based additions including My FanCam, which tracks a subject while recording video, as well as refinements to Now Brief and contextual Now Nudge suggestions.
Samsung has not confirmed the schedule for markets beyond South Korea. A wider regional expansion is expected in the coming days, but timing may vary by market and carrier.
