SkyShowtime could be sold, restructured or shut down as its joint owners, Comcast and Paramount Skydance, review strategic options for the European streaming venture. No final decision has been announced, leaving the service’s subscribers and content plans in limbo.
A September 14, 2026 internal letter seen by Reuters said SkyShowtime’s board had informed CEO Monty Sarhan that several scenarios were being assessed, including permanently discontinuing the service.
Launched in 2022, SkyShowtime operates in 22 European markets. It offers films and series through subscription plans but faces a highly competitive regional streaming market.

- Disney+
- Amazon Prime Video
- Apple TV
- HBO Max
Potential outcomes reportedly include a sale of the business or a change in ownership, with Comcast buying Paramount’s stake among the scenarios under consideration. Paramount’s agreement to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery could also reshape the group’s streaming portfolio.

SkyShowtime has not disclosed a shutdown date, subscription changes or any plan to move its programming to another platform. Eligible new and returning customers are currently being offered six months at promotional monthly rates through October 12, 2026.

The service added EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert on September 15, combining musical performances with rare archive footage and sequences in which Presley tells his own story. Whether additions such as this will continue depends on the outcome of the owners’ strategic review.
