Huawei is rolling out HarmonyOS 7.0.0.107 for the MatePad Mini, adding a Direct Power Supply feature intended to limit battery heating during gaming and other demanding tasks while the tablet is connected to a charger. The update is being distributed in stages and is reported to be a 1.28GB download for version 7.0.0.107 SP8.

Direct Power Supply can route power to the device once the battery has reached the required charge level, reducing the battery’s involvement during intensive use. The setting is available through Game Tools, applies only to the current charging session, and turns off automatically when the charging cable is removed.

The release also expands Huawei Notes with layer management, allowing the original document, annotations, sketches and replies to be kept separately. Other changes cover the presentation of Settings and Control Center, themes, Calendar, visual effects and portrait-to-landscape transitions. Huawei has also addressed an issue that could cause quick-access-bar icons to appear on the home screen.

MatePad Mini hardware

The compact tablet pairs an 8.8-inch OLED display with stylus support, although Huawei notes that configurations, including the hardware platform, can vary by market.

  • Display: 8.8-inch flexible OLED panel with a 2560 × 1600 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate and up to 1,800 nits of brightness.
  • Processor: Kirin 9010B on certain international versions.
  • Memory: 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage on globally listed configurations.
  • Rear cameras: 50MP main camera and 8MP ultrawide/macro camera.
  • Front camera: 32MP.
  • Battery: 6,400mAh capacity with 66W Huawei SuperCharge support.
  • Connectivity: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, USB-C, and GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo and QZSS positioning support.
  • Dimensions and weight: 198.59 × 127.27 × 5.1mm and about 255g; the PaperMatte edition is about 260g and 5.2mm thick.
  • Accessories: support for the Huawei M-Pencil Pro.

The MatePad Mini reached Europe in February, but the HarmonyOS 7 rollout should not yet be treated as confirmation of an immediate international release. The update is currently reported for the China version, while Huawei’s global MatePad Mini pages in some regions still list HarmonyOS 4.3. The timing of a wider software rollout remains unconfirmed.
