Meta is rolling out an AI assistant in its Edits video-creation app that can analyze an Instagram account’s performance and recommend what a creator might make next. The tool draws on signals including views, likes, shares and video retention to identify patterns in past Reels.
Edits already provides metrics such as skip rate and individual video performance. The new assistant adds a conversational layer, allowing creators to ask why one Reel outperformed another, what content their audience responds to, or which topics are trending.
- Video concepts for future posts
- Opening hooks for the first seconds of a Reel
- Caption copy
- Trending music suggestions
- A proposed video-script structure
The distinction is that the recommendations are intended to be based on a creator’s own account history rather than generic posting advice. It also places Meta in the unusual position of operating Instagram’s recommendation system, measuring audience responses and offering guidance on how to make content that may perform better within that system.
That setup could raise concerns about increasingly standardized Reels if creators broadly follow similar AI-generated recommendations for hooks, pacing, audio and structure. Meta has already introduced a Creator Assistant for Facebook that analyzes audience and content performance, while Edits brings the approach directly into the workflow for producing a video.
Free access will be limited
The assistant will be available for free, but Meta plans to limit the number of interactions. Additional access is planned through Edits Plus and Meta One; Meta has said Edits Plus will include more cloud storage and expanded assistant use.
Meta One has several plans aimed at creators and businesses, starting at $14.99 per month and reaching $499 per month for its Max tier. The $499 figure is not the price of the Edits assistant, and Meta has not said that the Max plan will be required for more Edits prompts.
Availability is rolling out gradually, so the feature may not appear on every account at the same time. Meta has not detailed the interaction limits or the precise level of expanded Edits access included with its paid plans.
