LG is bringing Miniclip’s 8 Ball Pool to its smart TVs, turning the motion-sensing Magic Remote into a virtual pool cue. The free-to-access game will support local one-on-one matches through a TV-exclusive Couch Play Mode, shifting the long-running mobile billiards title to the living-room screen.

The webOS version uses the Magic Remote’s motion sensors for aiming, power adjustment and taking each shot. That control scheme is a more natural fit for pool than for faster action games, although LG has not detailed how precisely players will be able to fine-tune shots with the remote.

8 Ball Pool has surpassed one billion downloads, according to LG. The company says the Couch Play Mode is exclusive to this TV release and is intended to let two people play on the same screen rather than taking turns on a phone.

The game will be available through LG Apps and the LG Gaming Portal on LG TVs from 2021 onward running webOS 6.0 or later. Access will be free, with optional in-game purchases and LG-exclusive items planned for launch.

LG says its web gaming catalog now includes more than 1,000 free games after tripling in size over the past two years. Based on its internal data, the company also reports a 71% year-over-year increase in gaming time between June 2025 and June 2026. LG has only said that 8 Ball Pool is coming soon, without confirming a release date or regional rollout schedule.
