OPPO is reportedly testing a smartphone built around a wide 16:9 display, a format that could allow native 16:9 video to fill the screen in landscape without black bars. The device has not been confirmed by OPPO, and its final design may still change.

  • Display aspect ratio: 16:9
  • Display width: approximately 81 mm
  • Symmetrical bezels: approximately 1 mm
  • Overall phone width: reportedly under 85 mm

If the reported 81 mm panel width is accurate, a 16:9 screen would be about 144 mm tall, producing an estimated 6.5-inch diagonal and roughly 117 cm² of display area. That would put it close to the Huawei Pura X View in usable screen area: Huawei's device has a 6.39-inch, near-5:3 display in an 87 mm-wide body, with an estimated 115 cm² panel area.

The rumored phone could be unveiled alongside OPPO's expected Find N7 foldable in the first quarter of 2027. Earlier reports had associated a wide-screen concept with the OPPO Reno X, said to use a 6.3- to 6.4-inch 16:10 display. It remains unclear whether the new 16:9 device is an evolution of that project or a separate model.
