Rollme has introduced the AuraCam, an over-ear wireless headset with a built-in 8MP camera for hands-free photos and video. The headphones are listed for $89.99 through the official store, positioning the camera-equipped audio device as an alternative to smart glasses for capturing what is in front of the wearer.
- An 8MP camera with electronic image stabilization (EIS), intended to reduce shake in video recorded while moving.
- One-touch transfer of photos and videos to a companion phone app, alongside Bluetooth 5.4 and Wi-Fi 6 connectivity.
- OpenAI technology for image recognition and real-time conversation translation, according to Rollme.
- Meeting recording that can be started with three taps.
For audio, AuraCam uses 40mm drivers with microcrystalline metal diaphragms. Rollme claims detailed treble, reduced distortion at higher volumes and low latency for gaming. The earcups use leather-covered cushions, while the company also promises all-day use and fast charging without providing a battery-life figure in hours.
AuraCam follows Rollme’s AirCam, a summer release that paired an 8MP camera with bone-conduction audio. The new model instead adopts a full over-ear design. It is available in black and beige, though shipping costs are calculated at checkout and the company has not detailed battery endurance for the headset.
