OPPO’s reported entry into the pocket gimbal camera market may be moving closer to a launch. Tipster Digital Chat Station says the project, codenamed Fuyao, is currently being evaluated against competing products, with OPPO’s team said to be confident in the result.

OPPO has previously confirmed that it is developing a new photography and video product category planned to debut by the end of 2026, but it has not confirmed the Fuyao name, a product design or any hardware details. That leaves the latest report firmly in rumor territory.

Recent leaks have attached ambitious hardware claims to Fuyao, although some of the same details have also been associated with a separate vivo project. The reported specifications should therefore not be treated as confirmed for OPPO’s device.

  • A 200-megapixel, 1/1.12-inch image sensor.
  • A 3nm Snapdragon 8-series processor, though this has been discussed for the product category rather than confirmed for Fuyao.
  • Smartphone integration for transferring, editing and publishing footage.
  • Potential Hasselblad involvement similar to OPPO’s flagship smartphone camera partnerships.

If it arrives with an integrated mechanical gimbal, Fuyao could put OPPO into competition with DJI’s Osmo Pocket line and camera products from Insta360. A large sensor or high resolution alone would not settle that contest: stabilization performance, autofocus, battery life and audio quality remain central to a pocket camera’s appeal.

There are no official images, pricing details or confirmed international availability for Fuyao. The key milestone now is whether OPPO identifies the product when it unveils its planned new imaging category before the end of 2026.
