OnePlus has unveiled the Buds Clip, its first clip-on true wireless earbuds. The open-ear design attaches around the outer ear rather than sitting in the ear canal, while the charging case brings total claimed battery life to up to 40 hours.
Each earbud combines an 11mm woofer for lower frequencies with a 9mm tweeter for higher frequencies. OnePlus says the earbuds also use two DACs and have been tuned in collaboration with Danish audio company Dynaudio.
- Audio support includes LHDC 5.0, AAC and SBC codecs.
- Bluetooth 6.1 is supported, along with simultaneous pairing with two devices.
- Each earbud weighs 5.2 grams and uses a flexible nickel-titanium alloy bridge intended to adapt to the ear’s shape.
- The Buds Clip carry an IP55 rating for dust and water-splash resistance.
For calls, the Buds Clip use six microphones, bone-conduction voice pickup and a dedicated AI audio chip. AI translation is available when the earbuds are used with select OnePlus smartphones. OnePlus also says its Dipole Sound-Field technology uses inverse sound waves to reduce audio leakage toward nearby people.
Battery life is rated at up to 9.5 hours from the earbuds alone when using AAC, or up to 40 hours with the case. Color options are Pearl White, Twilight Rose and Pebble Gray.
OnePlus has not disclosed pricing or a launch schedule. The Buds Clip appear on the company’s global website, but the scope of any international release remains unconfirmed.
