Dacia Sandero and Duster became Renault Group’s two highest-volume models worldwide in the third quarter of 2026, overtaking the Renault Clio. The shift puts Sandero within striking distance of the group’s full-year sales lead, although Clio remains ahead after the first nine months.

The Clio’s decline came as Renault phased out the previous Clio 5 generation, according to internal Renault data reviewed by Profit.ro. Sandero’s result is also notable because it no longer benefits from Renault-badged Sandero sales in Latin America, where the model has been gradually replaced by the Renault Kardian.
Duster continues to be sold with Renault branding in selected international markets. Its expansion into Australia and return to India helped sustain volumes, leaving it only around 2,600 units behind Sandero in the quarter.
Other Dacia and Renault volume models
- Dacia Bigster: 17,775 units in Q3, down 21.5% year over year.
- Dacia Jogger: 13,400 units, down 9.8%.
- Dacia Logan: 9,350 units, down 30%.
- Dacia Spring: 8,100 units, up 14%; a generational change is scheduled for 2027.
- Renault Kwid: 28,137 units.
- Renault Captur: 24,500 units.
- Renault 5: 23,666 units, up 40% year over year.
For January through September, the Renault Clio remained Renault Group’s best-selling model with about 193,000 units. Sandero followed at 191,500, while Duster reached 177,000. Renault Group sold roughly 1.66 million vehicles over the nine-month period, compared with 1.69 million a year earlier; Dacia accounted for 471,000 units, down 9.7%.
With only about 1,500 units separating Clio and Sandero after nine months, the final 2026 ranking will depend on whether Sandero can maintain its third-quarter advantage as Clio moves through its model transition.
