Samsung has released a new social-media ad that positions the Galaxy Z Fold 8 as the more mature foldable, directly targeting Apple’s newly launched iPhone Duo. The campaign claims Samsung’s current book-style foldable is 1.6 mm thinner and 53 grams lighter than Apple’s device.
The video revisits the Galaxy Fold line’s evolution since 2019, arguing that Samsung has had years to refine foldable-phone design, hinge hardware and device dimensions. A green apple slice appears as a visual stand-in for the iPhone Duo, making the Apple comparison explicit.

Samsung’s comparison also arrives with a trade-off of its own: the Galaxy Z Fold 8 has dropped S Pen support. The ad nevertheless centers its message on Samsung’s longer history in the category and its claimed hardware advantages over Apple’s first foldable.

The campaign comes as early reports have raised questions about iPhone Duo display and hinge durability. Those reports do not, at this stage, establish a widespread defect. The new rivalry gives both companies a clear new front for foldable comparisons, while longer-term reliability remains the more consequential question for Apple’s first-generation device.
