An alleged image said to show Apple’s iPhone Duo 2 points to a major camera change for the company’s second foldable: a rear module with three large lenses rather than two. The image was shared by leaker Majin Bu, but neither the device nor its specifications have been verified by Apple.

The photographed handset appears to retain the original iPhone Duo’s long black camera strip and horizontal lens layout, although the island looks longer to accommodate a third circular cutout. The extra sensor is widely interpreted as a telephoto camera, which would join the main and ultrawide cameras, but that identification remains speculative. There is no indication yet of the lens’s optical zoom level.

Separate reports on Apple test units have also raised the possibility of Face ID on the second-generation model. If implemented, facial authentication could work alongside or replace the fingerprint sensor used on the current iPhone Duo.

The iPhone Duo 2 is expected in the second half of 2027, leaving Apple time to finalize its hardware. Reports also suggest the iPhone Air may shift to a two-year update cycle rather than receiving an annual successor, though it remains unclear whether Apple will apply a similar cadence to its foldable line.
