Android Auto 17.9 beta includes hidden resources pointing to Magic Cue, Google’s proactive AI feature, and a possible customer-satisfaction survey mechanism. The findings suggest Android Auto could eventually offer navigation suggestions from information in messages and surface relevant details such as reservations without requiring users to search through apps.

The references were found through an analysis of the beta’s files, where resources for Magic Cue and CSAT appeared. CSAT stands for Customer Satisfaction, and an item labeled “csat_notification_icon_tint” indicates that Google may be preparing in-car feedback prompts. The company has not announced either feature for Android Auto, and hidden beta components can be changed, delayed or removed before a public release.

Magic Cue debuted on Pixel phones as an AI tool designed to identify useful information from a user’s context. For example, it can find a hotel booking in Gmail when someone asks for the hotel address in a message. In Android Auto, that same approach could let the system suggest a route when an incoming message contains a meeting location, or retrieve a booking number while the user is on a call.

Google said in May that the next generation of Android Auto would gain a more capable Gemini experience, proactive routing and widgets. The Android Auto 17.9 references appear consistent with that broader direction, as Gemini has already begun replacing Google Assistant in the platform.

  • A more capable Gemini integration for Android Auto
  • Proactive routing features
  • Persistent dashboard widgets
  • Expanded video-app support while the vehicle is parked
  • Material 3 Expressive interface updates

Magic Cue availability remains uncertain. Gemini Intelligence features vary by country and language on Pixel devices, so the presence of Magic Cue assets in an Android Auto beta does not confirm where or when the feature will be available.

The possible CSAT system raises separate questions. Android Auto could show short ratings or survey prompts after a drive or while the vehicle is parked, but it is not yet known how frequently these prompts might appear or whether users will be able to disable them. Google has yet to confirm a release timeline for either Magic Cue or the feedback feature.
