Apple Watch Ultra 4 raises the battery target for Apple’s rugged smartwatch line to as much as 50 hours of normal use, an eight-hour increase over the previous generation. Low Power Mode is rated for up to 84 hours, 12 hours more than the Ultra 3 figure cited for comparison.

The watch retains a Grade 5 titanium case and will be offered in Natural Titanium and Black Titanium finishes. It uses Apple’s S11 chipset and an updated optical and electrical heart-rate monitoring system that can record heart rate every five seconds and measure heart-rate variability up to 24 times more frequently.

New software features include a 0-to-10 Readiness score intended to indicate physical preparedness, plus Health Age, which calculates a biological-age estimate. Audio Intelligence can flag important ambient sounds and generate conversation summaries through Siri.
