OpenAI has expanded ChatGPT’s Google Chrome integration, allowing the AI assistant to analyze information across multiple open tabs and, through ChatGPT Work, carry out selected actions in the browser. The update is designed to reduce manual steps in web-based workflows involving research, documents and online forms.

  • Use information from several Chrome tabs at once, such as comparing products across multiple pages and producing recommendations based on a user’s preferences.
  • Download documents, fill out forms, send messages and organize tabs into groups through ChatGPT Work.
  • Summarize articles, reports and other web pages from the ChatGPT extension in Chrome’s sidebar.
  • Draft emails without leaving the page currently open in the browser.

OpenAI also says the extension can draw on a user’s ChatGPT history and connected plugins for more involved automation. One example involves finding receipts in Gmail and entering their details into a company expense-report form.

According to OpenAI, the new capabilities are available to ChatGPT users on every plan, including the free tier. The extension can be installed from the Chrome Web Store.
