Unconfirmed images surfaced online suggest Apple may give the standard iPhone 18 a major rear-design change, replacing the compact vertical camera housing used on the iPhone 17 with a much wider horizontal island spanning most of the phone’s upper back.

The alleged design still places the two camera sensors vertically, but integrates them into the wider horizontal module alongside the flash and additional sensors. It resembles Apple’s broader Pro-model camera treatment in shape, although the standard iPhone 18 is said to remain a dual-camera device rather than gain a third lens.

  • 48 MP main rear camera
  • 48 MP ultrawide rear camera
  • No dedicated telephoto camera
  • 18 MP front-facing camera
  • Apple A20 processor
  • 9 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage in the claimed base configuration
  • Apple-designed C2 modem, iOS 27, and IP68 water- and dust-resistance rating

The images also show silver, pink and dark-blue finishes, though neither the colors nor the hardware specifications have been confirmed. The rumored memory increase could support Apple Intelligence features and multitasking, while the in-house C2 modem is expected to target connectivity and power-efficiency improvements.

Reports indicate Apple could split the launch timing of the iPhone 18 Pro models and the standard iPhone 18. Production of the standard model is rumored to begin toward the end of November 2026, with a possible release in spring 2027. Apple has yet to confirm the design, specifications or launch schedule.
