Gionee recently teased a new handset with an atypical design for modern requirements, in that it adopts a flip phone format. It’s not any flip phone, but rather “the best specced model” out there and Gionee is teasing it for a March 29th unveiling.

The device is called Gionee W909 and it adopts the new S8 Gionee branding, that brings a logo change, resembling a smiley face. The handset is shown in a gold/rose gold version and adopts a dual screen design. We could see 3D graphics on the main screen, as the image shows, or maybe a 3D curved edge panel. Anyway, the specs should include 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage, plus a main 16 megapixel camera.

Two 4.2 inch HD screens will be in the mix, while inside we’ll find the MediaTek MT6755 processor, aka the Helio P10. Dual SIM slots and possibly a metal and glass chassis are expected here. This will certainly give those high end Samsung flip phones a run for the money.
