Global TV shipments rose 3.6% year over year in the second quarter of 2026, according to Omdia, even as demand in China fell sharply following the end of local consumer-stimulus programs. The market’s regional split was pronounced: China declined 15.1%, while Western Europe grew 9.5%, North America gained 4.7%, Eastern Europe rose 14.5%, and Latin America and the Caribbean increased 12.8%.
Samsung made the largest move in MiniLED TVs, climbing from third place to first with a 28.2% share of the segment. MiniLED sets represented 13% of global TV shipments during the quarter. TCL had led the category in the previous quarter with a 30.2% share.
Competition is also shifting in RGB LED TVs. Shipments in that category reached 295,000 units in Q2, while Hisense’s share fell from 77.2% at the start of the year to 42.9%. Samsung and Sony gained ground over the same period.

Omdia sees RGB MiniLED becoming a more significant OLED challenger in the premium TV market, where price and image-quality differences may carry more weight than the underlying display label. Memory supply conditions are another developing issue: existing inventories and the continued sale of older product generations limited the impact of shortages in the latest quarter, but Omdia expects further price pressure ahead. That could also accelerate manufacturers’ shift away from lower-resolution TVs toward 4K models.
