HONOR has publicly rejected claims that its forthcoming Magic 9 flagship series will be difficult to buy after launch or will carry higher-than-expected prices. Guan Haitao, the company’s Global Chief Marketing Officer, shared a screenshot of the report on Weibo with a prominent “Fake News” label.
The original report from China alleged that Magic 9 phones could be in short supply for several weeks after release, potentially allowing some retailers to add markups of several hundred yuan. It also claimed HONOR’s official pricing would exceed earlier expectations.
Haitao did not provide production-volume figures, launch pricing or a detailed rebuttal. Still, his response challenges the wider narrative that HONOR is preparing for a sustained availability problem and significant price increases.
Part of the speculation was tied to the unannounced Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. Xiaomi was rumored to have secured roughly one month of exclusivity for Qualcomm’s next flagship processor, which could theoretically delay HONOR’s supply chain. That exclusivity claim has not been officially confirmed.
The HONOR Magic 9 series is rumored to debut on September 28, shortly after Huawei’s next-generation Mate 90 lineup launches in China. HONOR has yet to confirm the date, final configurations, prices or initial availability for the series.
