HONOR could introduce its first wide-format foldable as early as January 2027, according to leaker Smart Pikachu on Weibo. The unannounced device is said to use a shorter, wider design than conventional book-style foldables, with HONOR also reportedly preparing a broad accessory lineup around it.

The January timing is more specific than earlier reports that placed the launch in the first quarter of 2027. HONOR has not confirmed the product, its launch date or whether it will be released internationally.

Leaks so far point to a flagship-level device rather than a limited experiment. The foldable is reportedly being tested with Qualcomm’s future 2nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, also referred to in leaks as the Extreme variant, alongside an approximately 7.6-inch internal screen and a roughly 5.5-inch cover display.

A battery near 7,000mAh would be especially notable in this form factor. Another tipster, Digital Chat Station, has suggested the device could have the largest battery among wide foldables if development stays on schedule. Earlier reports also mentioned a 200MP main camera, ARRI imaging technology and a possible telephoto camera.

Stylus support is also rumored for wide foldables being developed by Chinese manufacturers for 2027. A wider internal display could make pen input more practical for note-taking and other tablet-style tasks than on narrower foldable designs.

A growing wide-foldable category

The reports arrive as more manufacturers are linked to wider foldable designs. Huawei and HONOR have both been associated with new wide-format foldables for early 2027, while Smart Pikachu has suggested that Apple’s rumored iPhone Duo could become a reference point for the segment.

For HONOR, the key unanswered questions are the final design, the chipset’s official branding and the markets that will receive the device. Every specification remains unconfirmed and could change before any January 2027 announcement.
