HP’s Googlebook 14 is positioning Android phone integration as a core laptop feature rather than an add-on. With a compatible Android 17-or-later handset, the new model can surface phone files and photos in its file manager, open selected phone-installed apps in a laptop window, and continue activities started on mobile. The HP Googlebook 14 starts at $1,199.99 with 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage; Google lists a 16GB/512GB configuration at $1,299.
The connected features are part of Googlebook OS, which combines Android technology with desktop foundations developed for ChromeOS. Quick Access handles access to files and photos from a paired phone, Cast My Apps mirrors and controls supported mobile apps without installing them locally, and Continue On moves an in-progress phone task to the larger screen. Initial setup can also transfer passwords, Wi-Fi networks, messages and other settings.
Compatibility is not universal. The phone functions require a compatible device running Android 17 or newer, and Google and HP do not guarantee that every Android app will work seamlessly when brought to the laptop display.

Beyond the Snapdragon chip, HP specifies vapor-chamber cooling, four speakers, Wi-Fi 7 and support for up to two UHD external displays. The OLED panel covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color space and uses Gorilla Glass 3. HP’s battery estimate comes from controlled testing, so real-world endurance will depend on the workload.
Googlebook OS also includes desktop Chrome with extensions, the Play Store, Android apps and a separate Linux environment for developers. Gemini integration includes Magic Pointer, which sends a selected on-screen item to Gemini; Rambler, which turns dictated speech into organized text while removing filler words; and tools designed to generate widgets from natural-language descriptions.

HP includes 12 months of Google AI Pro, offering 5TB of cloud storage and expanded Gemini access. The promotion is not available in every market, and the subscription is paid separately once the promotional period ends.
Pricing puts HP at the top of the first Googlebook range

The difference between HP’s $1,199.99 starting price and Google’s $1,299 listing appears to reflect storage: HP’s entry configuration has 256GB, while Google’s listing carries 512GB. That makes the Googlebook 14 a premium entry in the initial lineup rather than a low-cost Chromebook-style device.
- Acer Googlebook: starts at $899.
- Dell XPS Googlebook: starts at $999.
- HP Googlebook 14: starts at $1,199.99.

Googlebook’s first European sales are scheduled to begin in October in the UK, Ireland, France and Germany. Broader availability has not been confirmed. HP’s challenge will be to show that its Android continuity features and Gemini tools justify a price that puts the Googlebook 14 against established premium Windows laptops and MacBooks.
