Huawei may be preparing a wide-screen smartphone with a major photography focus for release in the first half of 2027. The unannounced device was described by leaker Digital Chat Station as a wide-screen camera flagship, with early speculation linking it to Huawei’s future Pura 100 lineup.
It remains unclear whether the reported handset would be a foldable or a conventional phone with an unusual wide aspect ratio. Either approach would extend Huawei’s experimentation with compact, wider-format designs within its HarmonyOS ecosystem.
Huawei has already explored the category with the Pura X Max, a foldable featuring a wider display than typical flip phones and a prominent camera module. It later introduced the slimmer, lighter Pura X View, which is designed for one-handed use and pairs a Kirin 9030S processor with a 7,000mAh battery and HarmonyOS 7.
A Pura 100-branded wide-screen model could place greater emphasis on imaging than those earlier devices. Larger sensors, a periscope lens and Huawei’s XMAGE imaging technologies have been suggested as possibilities, but no hardware details have been provided and those features remain speculative.
The same report points to other unconventional Huawei products for 2027, including a 6.6-inch Mate phone and a new foldable tablet. None of those plans, including the rumored Pura camera flagship, has been officially confirmed, leaving its final form factor and launch timing unresolved.
