Early reports from iPhone 18 Pro owners point to possible discoloration of the Burgundy finish after only a few weeks of use. Posts on Reddit include photos of devices said to be losing their dark red color, most notably around the rear camera lenses, before the apparent fading spreads to other parts of the aluminum housing.
The reports remain anecdotal, and there is no official confirmation that the affected units share a hardware or manufacturing defect. A small number of users have also reported similar issues with black models.
UV exposure is one unverified explanation being discussed, as some reports associate the color change with outdoor use. That would echo concerns raised over finish durability on the previous iPhone 17 Pro generation, where Cosmic Orange and Deep Blue variants also drew discoloration complaints. The current reports do not establish that the cases have the same cause.

Apple’s response, including whether it identifies a finish problem and how it handles affected devices, remains the key unresolved detail.
